continuous system throughout the plant, made of up tracheary elements
have secondary cell wall thickenings that may appear as rings or spirals
tracheids—elongated cells (dead at maturity); usually only type of xylem cell in most gymnosperms and seedless vascular plants
vessel elements—may be wider than tracheids; contain perforations (areas lacking in cell walls), usually on the end walls; more specialized cell type
xylem also has parenchyma associated with it, often found in rays (long strands) & called ray parenchyma
Plant cell and Tissue Types
Simple tissues are composed of one cell type.
A) Parenchyma:
living cells with thin cell walls
functions: storage, photosynthesis, secretion
make up the bulk of the cortex and pith of stems and roots
B) Collenchyma:
living cells with unevenly thickened cell walls
most often found beneath the epidermis
main function is support
C) Sclerenchyma:
2 cell types:
i. Fibers: long, slender cells that occur in strands or bundles. ii. Sclereids: variable in shape, but much shorter than fibers.
cells are not living at maturity
very thick cell walls
primary function is support

Bionet Controller

The Broadley-James BioNet Controller uses the highly regarded, field-proven DeltaV™ control solution from Emerson Process Management for controlling and managing small to large arrays of Utility Towers. Individual controllers can manage up to 10 Utility Towers and can be sequenced to control an entire suite of Bioreactors. The BioNet Controller is housed in a 20" x 20" x 8" 316L stainless steel enclosure, with a clear window, and can be located anywhere within 100 meters of the Utility Tower. The capabilities of this solution include:
Bionet Utility Tower

The Broadley-James BioNet Utility Tower stainless steel enclosure contains all the instrumentation, pumps, motors, valves, and meters necessary to provide monitoring and control of pH, Dissolved Oxygen, Temperature, Level, Gas Flow, and Agitation for related benchtop bioreactors. This monitoring and control is accomplished through the use of digital communications between the BioNet Controller and the BioNet Utility Tower. The design of the BioNet Utility Tower offers a number of features unique to a benchtop solution.
